Gordon was purported to be one of the very best hitting prospects in 2006 in which he was selected to be part of the All Star Futures game. Gordon turned down the opportunity to play for Team USA in 2006, at the time he was leading the Wichita Wranglers to the Texas league play-offs. Gordon’s playing was nothing short of exceptional during his first minor league season. Gordon picked up the Texas League Player of the year award and Baseballs minor league player of the year.
