San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker has sprained his ankle and injured his thigh after colliding with an Austrian player during a game.  Parker stated that he was hit in the thigh first and then turned his ankle.  As of right now there is no sign of ligament tears or other serious injuries. This injury will play a large factor in whether he will be available to play for France in Thursday’s game in Paris.  He was scheduled to play against Hungary in Euro basketball 2009, according to sports daily L’Equipe.  We hope Parker has a fully and speedy recovery.

Ed O’Bannon who is a former U.C.L.A. basketball star,  lawyers has filed a class-action lawsuit against the N.C.A.A on Tuesday.  They believe former athletes should be compensated for the use of their images and likeness in television advertisements, video games and apparel.

This lawsuit will bring light to how the N.C.A.A handles player images, even after they leave the college.  As of this time the amount being sued has not been stated.  They did announce that the licensing deals are estimated at $4 million.  None of this money goes to former players whose images, jersey numbers and likenesses are used.

“We really couldn’t believe that these compensation practices still existed in any kind of industry,” said Jon T. King, who is a partner at a Washington based law firm that is representing O’Bannon.  The N.C.C.A. has declined comment, but they have denied these charges.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has decided to partially reinstate Michael Vick.  Good well says that Vick can participate immediately in pre season practices, workouts, meetings, and play in the final two preseason games, if he can find a team that will sign him.  Unfortunately a number of teams said that they would not sign him.

Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by week 6 which is October 18, 2009. We wish Michael Vick luck with the possibility of restarting his football career.
