Many remember when Oregon’s running back LeGarrette Blount was suspended. I’m sure many replayed the clip over and over again when he punched a Boise State player. The reinstatement was approved by Pacific-10 Conference commissioner Larry Scott. As a result of the suspension he missed eight games. He will luckily be able to play on Saturday against Arizona State. Blount has shown plenty of gratitude and appreciation for the reinstatement. We wish him luck with all his future endeavors.

Assane Sene has been suspended for Virginia’s first three games. The reason is for conduct that was detrimental to the team. The school did not say what Sene did to merit the suspension. As a result he will miss the Cavaliers’ season-opener against Longwood on Nov. 13, and games at South Florida and with Rider. What ever the situation was we hope Sene learns from it.

 Manny Ramirez has decided to return to the Dodgers next season for $20 million. Scott Boras, informed general manager Ned Colletti of the decision, which Ramirez had until Tuesday to make.

He had several options that he could have exercised. One of them was an out-clause in the two-year, $45 million deal he signed in March. We wish Ramirez luck with all his future endeavors.

Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi was taken to the locker room after a hard hit in the second quarter. He has injured his ankle and will be sidelined. A local Iowa radio network reported that Stanzi suffered a high ankle sprain.
Stanzi was drilled by Corey Wootton in the end zone, and his fumble was recovered by Marshall Thomas for a touchdown that brought Northwestern within 10-7. As a result Stanzi was limping as he was helped off the field.
He has been replaced by freshman James Vandenberg. We wish Stanzi a quick recovery.

Delonte West was indicted on Tuesday for traffic charges stemming from his Sept. 17 arrest for speeding on a motorcycle and carrying multiple weapons. West is a guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers.  The incident took place in on the Capital Beltway in Prince George’s County, Md.  West was riding a motorcycle with two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun.  It’s illegal in Maryland to carry concealed weapons and to transport loaded handguns.

The indictment included two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, and one count each of reckless driving and negligent driving.

Doug Baron is the first player on the PGA Tour to violate the performance -enhancing drug policy.  As a result he has been suspended for one year.  The 40 year old veteran failed his drug test and his suspension is immediate.   “I would like to apologize for any negative perception of the tour or its players resulting from my suspension,” Barron said in a statement released by the PGA Tour. “I want my fellow tour members and the fans to know that I did not intend to gain an unfair competitive advantage or enhance my performance while on tour.”  We wish Baron luck with all his future endeavors.

Alex Ovechkin has recently suffered an upper-body injury.  The Capitals said Monday that the two-time league MVP suffered an “upper-body strain” in Sunday’s overtime loss to Columbus.  Recently, Ovechkin had an MRI and will travel with the team while receiving treatment.  As a result of the injury he missed four games.  We hope for a fast and speedy recovery for Ovechkin.

On Monday George Kokinis the general manager of the Cleveland Browns was escorted out of the teams facility. It is rumored that the escort out was the result of being fired.  Kokinis was brought in to help the team after the Browns had hired Mangini, who coached last year with the New York Jets.

The Cleveland Browns has struggled in all aspects of the game and fell to 1-7 with a 30-6 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Lerner said Sunday night he is “sick” about the state of his NFL team but he will not make a coaching change.   Lerner did tell the Plain Dealer and Akron Beacon-Journal on Sunday that he would not fire Mangini during the club’s bye week. Lerner did say he would like to bring in a “strong, credible, serious leader” to help run his team.
Mangini believes his process for turning around the team will work despite a horrid first half of the season.

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has reached an impressive contract extension agreement.  His agent recently confirmed that the contract extension will be worth a staggering $55 million over the next five years.
